Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from small business owners and families, whether you're near our Moore office or anywhere else in the country. Don't see yours? Call (405) 919-3965 or use the Schedule Free Consultation button.

Are you the same firm as CMM Financial Services?

Yes. Arena Accounting was formerly CMM Financial Services. Same team, same office in Moore, and the same phone number, (405) 919-3965. If you were a CMM client, you don't need to change anything to stay with us.

Do you have a CPA on staff?

Yes. Arena Accounting has a licensed CPA, and our team has more than 20 years of experience serving small businesses and individuals.

How much do your services cost?

We don't post a one-size-fits-all price because every business is different. We quote a flat monthly price after a free consultation. Your price depends on things like how many accounts and transactions you have, whether you need payroll, and whether you want your personal return included.

What's included in Bookkeeping+?

Bookkeeping+ is our all-in-one package for small to mid-sized businesses. It includes ongoing bookkeeping (every transaction categorized and reconciled), clean monthly financials, your business tax return, proactive tax strategy throughout the year, and quarterly strategy calls, all for one predictable monthly fee. You can add P&L analytics and consulting or payroll if you want everything under one roof. Clients typically save around 15% compared to paying for each service separately.

Can you do my personal tax return too?

Yes. We prepare both business and individual returns. Many Bookkeeping+ clients bundle in their personal tax preparation, and bundling usually costs less than buying each service on its own.

Do you only work with businesses?

No. Most of our clients are small to mid-sized business owners, but we also prepare individual returns and provide tax strategy for individuals with more complex situations, such as investments or multiple income streams.

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

We specialize in small to mid-sized businesses. Our experience includes construction, trades, medical, hospitality, franchises and professional services.

How hard is it to switch from my current accountant?

Usually easier than people expect. Start with a free consultation so we can understand where things stand. Your Arena Accounting accountant or our CEO will contact your old firm for you, so you don't have to. From there, we'll review your current books and software and handle the setup so nothing gets dropped. If your books are behind, we can get them caught up as part of the move. How long it takes depends on your situation.

I'm behind on my books or haven't filed. Can you still help?

Yes. We frequently help clients get caught up and organized before filing, so everything is accurate and compliant. The sooner you reach out, the more options you usually have.

What are the key tax deadlines for small businesses?

For calendar-year filers and the 2026 tax year, the main federal dates are: January 15, 2027 for fourth-quarter estimated taxes; February 1, 2027 for W-2s and 1099-NECs (January 31 falls on a Sunday); March 15, 2027 for S corporation and partnership returns; and April 15, 2027 for individual and C corporation returns. An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay.

I got a letter from the IRS. What should I do?

First, don't ignore it, and don't panic. Most IRS letters are about a specific item and have a response deadline printed on them. Before you pay anything or respond, call us at (405) 919-3965 so we can read it with you and help you work out the next step. Also keep in mind that the IRS usually makes first contact by mail, not by phone, text or social media. If a 'letter' arrives any other way, be careful. We handle IRS letters and audits, so you don't have to deal with the IRS on your own.

Should my business be an S corporation?

It depends on your profit, how you pay yourself, and your plans for the business, so there's no single right answer. Entity questions are part of our tax strategy work. We look at your actual numbers and tell you whether a change makes sense before you file anything. If an S corporation makes sense, we handle the election for you. If you're considering an S corporation election for 2027, talk to us well before March 15, 2027.

Do you offer payroll?

Yes. Payroll is an optional add-on to our bookkeeping and accounting services, not a standalone service, so it stays tied to your books. We support compliance with payroll tax requirements and can run payroll weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. If you already have a payroll setup, we'll review it and make sure it's integrated properly.

Will you work with my accounting software?

We work with QuickBooks Online and Drake, and we'll make sure everything is set up correctly. If you use something else today, we'll talk through your options in the free consultation.

What should I bring to my first meeting?

For a free consultation, you don't need to prepare much. A general picture of your business and what's been frustrating you is enough. If you're ready to get started on taxes, gather last year's tax returns, your income forms (W-2s and 1099s), business bank and credit card statements, any loan statements, records of large purchases, and any letters from the IRS or your state tax agency.

Do I have to come into the office, or can we work remotely?

You don't have to come in. We work with clients all across the country, so we can work with you by phone or video wherever you are. If you're nearby, you're always welcome at our office at 1111 Magnolia Ct, Suite 201, in Moore, open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5pm.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Moore, Oklahoma, just south of Oklahoma City, so many of our clients are nearby. But we work with small businesses and individuals all across the country.

How often will I hear from you?

Bookkeeping+ clients get monthly financials and quarterly strategy calls, plus ongoing communication as questions come up. We're also available after your return is filed, not just during tax season.
